WINGS

Couple of weeks to catch up ....

Here is the mating of the wing spars ... to get a feel for the wing span upon completion

After that I started to assemble the first (left wing) ...
Just to confirm everthing fits together I finished the ailerons and flaps after the sub-structure was rivited.
That also includes the balancing of the ailerons:
Ok now and then I guess it is just fitting the big sheet metal pieces (skins). I like that it feels like the project is moving fast forward - however deburring is still my least favorite part...
For deburring sheet metal I turn a countersink with my hand on the ouside (visible side) and sand it on the other with a 220 grid paper. Also as I meantioned before I juse T-9 Boeshield for corrosion protection on the inside of the wing before final riveting the skins on.
On the flush rivets (leading edge skin) I used a #31 drill (plans call for 31 or 32) before dimpling but thats already borderline being to big. But on the 32 hole my dimpling die nail didnt fit through.
On the underside it turned out that 3 rivets pulled a bit too far and had bit of the stem showing - I just sanded them down with a rotary tool. On the top side it worked better - there were no stems extruding but It was close on almost all of the flush rivets. For the right wing I will drill #32 and make that dimpling tool nail fit...
Here so pictures...

left wing box complete....ish (happy so far)
 - I didnt like the NOT perfect match of the pilot holes in the wing root doubler
 - that the flush rivets pulled so far
 - fitting the root rib (spar root rib attach angle should have been updrilled before mounting)

...off to the next (right) wing ....

So the wings are so far completed by 08 MAR 2017 - and waiting to be rigged w/ the fuselage (yet to be build)
