Engine AEROVEE Turbo

Started 10.Dec 2017 ... pretty much exactly now 1 year after the Project started.


Putting the tail on and Trim/brake handle install



Pretty ok - Just one big annoying thing happend .... a 3/32 drill bit broke off in the middle of one of these aluminum blocks (see below).... only cost me 3 hours to get it out and the hole without traces of the happening.


 Brake handle & Trim ... I managed to route the trim cable inside the canopy rail/longeron(I like).


Hell yeah ... Engine is next.

Wing rigging

 Getting Ready...

 Hell yeah ... absolutly no surpises... looks and measured pretty much square.
 Just done before sunset ... took about 3 hours.

Rudder and other things while getting ready to rig the wings

Cute little Rudder .... little things I work on till I have nice day available to rig the wings..


 Stick assembly ...straight forward.

 Y-Mixer... no highlights

 Rudder riveted and temporarily imstalled.

 Just clecoed the tails on - so it looks cool for the wing rigging.

Canopy

Canopy fit ....

Stuff I learned : updrill the canopy drilling in reveres ( I had one hole crack a bit before discovering that technique - fortunatly under the side trim and I was able to stop drill it without being visible later on)
Else it just creates a lot of annoying debrie and dust ...

It helped a lot that I fitted a Canopy on a SF28A last year in my flying club.





 Need to get the plane out to get rid of the cutting debrie/dust ... and clean out the work shop/garage.

 Love it!

 Love the room available ...and again the CNC Frame ...just nice!

GEAR fit /Rudder paddles/ Windscreen & Dash

Haven't posted in a while.... so a lot happend...

Finally on Wheels...
Drilling Titanium is no fun... so after giving it a try for the tail wheel spring /rod I went to a steel company in town to borrow there BIG drill press ...should have done that from the getgo.

Dimensions didnt exactly fit the plans - for some reason the aircraft has more ground clearance than per plan with the correct length of the gear legs - this would affect Angle of attack at landing, but after talking to TechSupport and having choosen the bigger 6" tail wheel is going to be ok; I actually like ther bigger prop ground clearance.




 Its time to start the Dash - I like that I dilled it already while I was building the forward fuselage sides.

 Upper Firewall - bending the firewall to dash angle was fun - my home made 6$ flute pliers did the job just fine.



 Disassembled the dash again ( still going with the 2 step forward and 1 step back principle) - to fit the rudder paddles before it is tougher to get to.


 First Windscreen fit - to mention is that I put a little bit of bend into the windscreenskirt right where it leaves the sidewall skins to take a bit of stress away from the windscreen.

And I found out why they sent me a new windscreen - not because of the tinting ( I believe that was their reasoning) - it was due to a wrong cutout at the fuel filler cap and slight changes at the sides to be able to slide it in.

 I love the CNC canopy bows - looks nice.
 Pretty ok fit in my opinion - not water tight but I will do that a later time - objective is still to fly 2018...
